RR Racing has been evaluating headers for Lexus ISF for some time now. When choosing the headers to complement our ECU upgrade and supercharger for our shop Lexus IS-F, we selected the best headers available on the market -- and we decided it is even more true for the equal length headers. According to our tests, these headers do not make more power than unequal length headers, but many people like the sound of equal length headers.
The PPE IS F Equal Length Headers make a significant increase in flow compared to the stock manifolds. Tube lengths and diameters are increased coming together into a ported 4-1 parallel merge collector. Completely TIG welded construction with thick 16 gauge tubing for long lasting power gains.
Although RR Racing has not measured power gains of equal length versus unequal length headers on the ISF, equal length headers have the following technical advantages over unequal length:
An equal length header will expel gases at an equal rate per pulse, with gas from each cylinder leaving the header at the same time. With an unequal length header, gas from the two longer runners will remain in the header as it will take longer to reach the collector -- this results in lower cylinder temperature on an equal length header, which can help prevent ringland failure. Another benefit of equal length headers is the balance of backpressure at the exhaust ports, which will improve volumetric efficiency and overall top end performance.
According to our estimates, PPE headers can make between 25 to 30 (35 to 45 with our tune) additional wheel horsepower compared to OEM manifolds with removed catalysts (based on RR Racing Dyno tests). Please refer to our ECU upgrade tune product for recent estimates.
These headers include new Lexus 60mm outlet gaskets and a dipstick relocation bracket.

- RR-Racing recommends using ceramic coating or 2" wide titanium heat insulation with these headers for thermal insulation. We also recommend keeping the heat shield to insulate the starter when the headers are installed.
